                 Registered Psychiatric Nurses

Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) provide professional mental health nursing services in mental health care facilities, acute care hospitals, and in the community. They promote and help people restore and maintain good mental health. Psychiatric nurses work in cooperation with other health care professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, recreational therapists, and occupational therapists to develop and implement therapeutic programs.

RPNs work in a variety of capacities: they provide holistic, client-centred nursing care; assist in completing mental and physical health assessments; observe and report behavioural changes; promote mental health and wellness; and act as advocates for clients.

Working as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Alberta

Alberta offers Registered Psychiatric Nurses the chance to work independently or as members of a health care team. They have the opportunity to work directly with individuals, families, and groups in a variety of exciting settings such as clinic, hospitals, communities, educational institutions, government services, and home care agencies.
About one third of the psychiatric nurses employed in Alberta work in two large psychiatric hospitals. Others are employed by:

• community mental health programs and clinics (for example, support services for persons who have disabilities or chemical dependencies, crisis services and suicide prevention programs)
• residential care facilities
• acute care, extended care, long-term care or palliative care facilities
• educational institutions
• correctional institutions

Psychiatric nurses may also work as consultants to community agencies, public health nurses or foster home parents.

WHAT IS ONLINE?

The terms "online" have specific meanings in regard to computer technology and telecommunications. In general, "online" indicates a state of connectivity.
The concepts have however been extended from their computing and telecommunication meanings into the area of human interaction and conversation, such that even offline can be used in contrast to the common usage of online. For example, discussions taking place during a business meeting are "online", while issues that do not concern all participants of the meeting should be "taken offline"
                                       WHAT IS ONLINE COMMERCE
 
Online commerce involves multiple transactions or the transfer of payment information across a secure Internet connection in exchange for goods and services. Commercial ecommerce represents trade, commercialism, mercantilism and all other business transactions for business, personal or commercial activities that has the sole objective of supplying commodities via an online storefront.
     Ecommerce is governed by the Department of Commerce, created in 1913, is the federal organization with the United States that promotes and administers domestic and foreign trade. The DOC monitors B2B and B2C ecommerce dealings both online and off-line. It covers a broad range of markets from consumer based retail sites, auctions and peer-to-peer sites, to business exchanges negotiating commodities between corporations. These organizations help to regulate ecommerce operations and corresponding business rules.

ASP shopping cart web stores have expanded rapidly over the past five years and is predicted to accelerate. In the near future, ecommerce will mean that the boundaries between "conventional" and "ebusiness software" marketplaces will become increasingly blurred as more e-businesses transact portions of their industry operations and merchandise to web shops or online malls or marts.
